Team Roles and Permissions

Roles in an organization workspace and what each can do

Last updated: May 26, 2026

A DailyWorship organization has three roles. Each role grants a different set of permissions. This page lists every role and what it can and cannot do.

The three roles#

RolePurpose
AdminOwns the organization. Manages billing, membership, and settings.
Worship LeaderBuilds and runs services. Manages the shared library and service plans.
MemberParticipates: views shared content, contributes feedback, plays tracks.

What each role can do#

Admin#

Admins have every permission a Worship Leader has, plus organization-level controls:

  • Edit organization profile (name, denomination, logo, description)
  • Invite, remove, and reassign members
  • Change other members' roles (including promoting / demoting other admins)
  • Manage organization billing and subscription
  • Transfer ownership to another admin
  • Delete the organization

By default the person who creates the organization is its first admin. There must always be at least one admin — the system will block the removal of the last admin until ownership is transferred.

Worship Leader#

Worship Leaders run worship services week to week:

  • Share their own tracks into the organization library
  • Remove tracks from the organization library (does not delete the underlying track; just unshares it)
  • Create, edit, and delete organization service plans
  • Add tracks to service plans
  • Submit Worship Memory feedback on past services
  • Generate and edit tracks (using their personal generation quota or the org's pooled quota where configured)
  • See and play everything in the org library

Worship Leaders cannot manage billing, change other members' roles, or remove members.

Member#

Members participate without administrative responsibility:

  • View and play everything in the organization library
  • View service plans
  • Submit Worship Memory feedback on past services
  • Use the Concierge to ask worship-planning questions
  • Generate and edit tracks in their own personal library

Members cannot share their tracks into the org library, edit service plans, or invite other members.

Assigning a role#

When you invite a new member, you set their initial role on the invite. To change a role later:

  1. Open the organization workspace.
  2. Go to Members.
  3. Find the member.
  4. Click their current role and pick a new one.
  5. The change takes effect immediately.

Only Admins can change roles.

Multiple admins#

We recommend every organization have at least two admins. If the single admin loses access to their account, no one else can manage billing or membership until support intervenes. Promoting a second person to admin takes a few seconds and prevents lockouts.

Members across multiple orgs#

A user can belong to several organizations with different roles in each. You might be an Admin in your main worship workspace and a Member in a regional worship-leaders' network. The roles are scoped per organization.

What no one can do by default#

  • See another member's private library
  • Edit a track they didn't create (only the owner can edit title, lyrics, audio)
  • Delete the organization (only the primary admin, with confirmation)
  • See another member's billing information

These boundaries exist to protect privacy and ownership even within a shared workspace.
