Section Locking

Love the chorus but not the verse? Section locking lets you keep what works and regenerate what doesn't.

What Is Section Locking?#

Section locking "protects" parts of your song:

• Locked sections stay exactly as they are
• Unlocked sections get regenerated
• Perfect for iterating toward your ideal song

How to Lock a Section#

1. Play your song and identify sections you love
2. Click on the waveform or section markers
3. Select the section (Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, etc.)
4. Click the Lock icon 🔒

The section is now protected from regeneration.

How to Unlock a Section#

1. Click the locked section
2. Click the Unlock icon 🔓
3. The section is now included in regeneration

Regenerating with Locks#

With sections locked:

1. Click Regenerate
2. Locked sections remain unchanged
3. Unlocked sections get new variations
4. You get fresh options while keeping favorites

Example Workflows#

"Keep Chorus, New Verses"#

1. Generate your song
2. Find a chorus you love
3. Lock the Chorus section
4. Regenerate
5. Get new verse options with the same chorus

"Keep Verse, New Chorus"#

1. Generate your song
2. Find verses you love
3. Lock all Verse sections
4. Regenerate
5. Get new chorus options

"Keep Everything Except Bridge"#

1. Lock Intro, Verses, and Chorus
2. Leave Bridge unlocked
3. Regenerate until you find the perfect bridge

Tips for Effective Section Locking#

Start with Structure#

Generate with your desired structure, then lock the sections you like.

Lock Early#

Once you find a section you love, lock it before experimenting further.

Try Different Combinations#

• Lock chorus + verse 1, regenerate verse 2
• Lock intro and outro, regenerate the middle
• Lock the body, regenerate the bridge for a fresh climax

Pair with new lyrics#

If you want different wording rather than a different take of the same words, the cleanest path is to generate a fresh track with your revised lyrics in the Studio. See Editing Lyrics After Generation.

Limitations#

• You must have at least one unlocked section
• Transitions between locked/unlocked may vary slightly
• Some styles handle section locking better than others
