Playback Controls
Every button in the player and what it does
DailyWorship's mini-player sits at the bottom of every page once you've started playing a track. This is what each control does.
The mini-player#
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play / Pause | Toggle playback of the current track |
| Skip back | Jump to the previous track in your queue |
| Skip forward | Jump to the next track in your queue |
| Seek bar | Drag to jump to any position in the track |
| Time display | Current position / total length |
| Volume | Slider for player volume (independent of system volume) |
| Favourite (heart) | Add or remove the current track from your favourites |
| Rating (stars) | Rate the current track 1–5 stars (private, just for you) |
| Share | Open the share sheet (copy link, share to org, etc.) |
| Open track detail | Click the title or cover to jump to the full track page |
Queue#
Tracks you play are added to your queue. The queue is independent of your library — it's a temporary "what's coming next" list.
You can:
- Add a track to the end of the queue with Add to queue
- Play a track next (interrupting the queue) with Play next
- View and reorder the queue from the queue panel
Closing the browser clears the queue; it's not persisted between sessions.
Lock screen and Media Session#
On mobile and on desktop browsers that support the Media Session API, the lock screen / OS media controls show the current track:
- Track title and cover image
- Play, pause, skip controls
- Position scrubbing
This works in iOS Control Center, Android notification shade, macOS Now Playing widget, and the Windows volume mixer. You can pause from the lock screen, skip from headphones with a media button, and so on.
Background playback#
Audio continues playing when you switch tabs, switch apps, or lock your phone. The browser keeps the audio session alive even when the page isn't in the foreground.
Keyboard shortcuts#
The full player can be driven from the keyboard. See Keyboard Shortcuts for the complete list.
Loop and shuffle#
- Loop track: Click the loop icon to repeat the current track until you stop it.
- Loop queue: Click again to loop the whole queue when it reaches the end.
- Shuffle: Click the shuffle icon to randomise the queue order.
Crossfade and gapless#
DailyWorship currently uses standard playback (a brief silence between tracks). Gapless playback and crossfade are not yet implemented; both are tracked for a future release.
