Add an extra layer of security to your account
Last updated: January 20, 2026
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds extra security to your account. Even if someone gets your password, they can't log in without your phone.
What Is Two-Factor Authentication?#
With 2FA enabled, logging in requires two things:
- Your password (something you know)
- A code from your phone (something you have)
This makes your account much harder to hack.
Who Should Use 2FA?#
We recommend 2FA for everyone, but it's especially important for:
- Organization admins
- Worship leaders managing team accounts
- Anyone with billing access
- Users with large song libraries
Setting Up 2FA#
Step 1: Go to Security Settings#
- Click your profile picture → Settings
- Select Security
- Find Two-Factor Authentication
Step 2: Choose Your Method#
We support two 2FA methods:
Authenticator App (Recommended)
- Use apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password
- Generates a new code every 30 seconds
- Works offline
SMS Text Message
- Receive codes via text message
- Requires a mobile phone number
- Convenient but less secure than an app
Step 3: Set Up Your Authenticator#
For authenticator apps:
- Click Set Up Authenticator App
- Open your authenticator app
- Scan the QR code shown on screen
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Click Verify
Step 4: Save Your Backup Codes#
We'll give you backup codes in case you lose your phone:
- Copy or download the backup codes
- Store them somewhere safe (not on your phone!)
- Each code can only be used once
Logging In with 2FA#
After enabling 2FA:
- Enter your email and password as usual
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Optionally check "Trust this device" for 30 days
Lost Access to 2FA?#
If you lose your phone or can't access your authenticator:
- Use one of your backup codes to log in
- Once logged in, set up 2FA again with a new device
If you've lost your backup codes too, contact support.
